In Act I, Dan is played by Ruirui Zhu, who was initially trained as an actor and singer in traditional Chinese Opera before being asked to join the Shenzhen Troupe.

The Shenzhen Acrobatic Troupe provides the 136th Edition of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® with its intrepid circus explorer, "Dan" – played both by Ruirui Zhu and Dashan Hou. The boys were chosen not only for their specific acrobatic and acting skills, but also for their mischievous personalities and, notably, their stature!
In the role of Dan's precocious sister, "Jan," is Lucilene Correa, a Brazilian-born dancer and aspiring actress who is living out her own dreams with each performance of – and even every pie thrown in – The Greatest Show On Earth®!
As Dan's and Jan's not-so-mousy "Mom," Gisela Betiana Riquelme is delighted with her talented, "instant" family, even though she descends from four actual generations of circus performers in her native Argentina. Gisela has performed throughout South and North America as an acrobat, animal trainer and aerialist – where her talents are obvious as she flies above the 136th Edition's Dream Circus "with the greatest of ease!"
